Michael Jones, Matthew Potts drive Durham into the ascendancy

Leicestershire collapse to seamer before opener’s 97 secures overnight lead

Michael Jones missed out on a second century of the season against the Foxes but Durham moved into a slender lead over the home side on day two of their LV= Insurance County Championship match, albeit with five wickets lost. The Scotland top-order batter, who made 108 against Leicestershire at Chester-le-Street in April, fell for 97 this time after being dropped on 80, but it was thanks largely to him that Durham closed on 239 for five with a 37-run advantage over the side at the bottom of Division Two.Left-arm spinner Callum Parkinson, the Leicestershire skipper, took three for 43 with a feeling he might have bowled himself more on a pitch giving him some help. Veteran seamer Chris Wright picked up two well deserved late wickets.Earlier, England pace bowler Matthew Potts had taken six for 52 as Leicestershire were dismissed for 202, debutant Sol Budinger failing to add to his 63 not out overnight but finishing as his new side’s top scorer.Having resumed on 97 for two, Leicestershire were all out by lunch – albeit one delayed by the fall of the ninth wicket. Following the departure of Budinger leg before in the third over of the morning, they collapsed to 130 for eight, losing six wickets for 31.Potts wrecked the middle order with three wickets in four overs. Swinging deliveries had Louis Kimber and Harry Swindells caught behind, the latter off an inside edge, before his pace left Ed Barnes surveying his shattered stumps.Colin Ackermann was leg before playing across one from Paul Coughlin, who picked up a third wicket in the innings when Tom Scriven was caught at backward point off a careless shot.Landing the final, decisive blows proved more difficult for the Durham bowlers, the last two wickets adding 72 more runs, although Wright was dropped at second slip on 15 before he fell for 29. Parkinson eked out 31 before a top edge to cover brought his downfall, Potts dismissing both for his second six-for against Leicestershire this season. The second session went no better for the home side as Durham put on exactly 100 for one wicket, although Leicestershire’s bowlers were a little unlucky. Wright and the left-armer Michael Finan posed problems for the Durham openers, both of whom were fortunate at times. When the ball did find the edge, it went to ground. Jones reached fifty from 71 balls with eight fours. In the event, it was after Parkinson brought himself on after 26 overs that they made a breakthrough, the skipper drawing Sean Dickson down the pitch to drive a ball that started wide and turned wider. Rishi Patel held a good catch at backward point. As Parkinson celebrated, spectators may have been forgiven for wondering why he had delayed his introduction for so long, especially given that the wicket clearly suited him. With the left-handed Scott Borthwick next in, there seemed to be an opportunity.Nonetheless, after bowling a couple of overs before tea, he went back to seam at the start of the third session, although he should have seen a reward when Jones, on 80, smarting from a blow on the thigh the previous delivery, edged Barnes to first slip only for Kimber to spill a regulation chance. Wright again looked sharp. It was 20 overs into the final session before Parkinson bowled again, and again he made an immediate impact as Jones, who had moved to within three runs of a third ton of the season with his 16th four in the previous over, edged to Ackermann at slip. There was clearly something there for Parkinson, who struck another blow a couple of overs later, surprising Borthwick with a quicker ball that bowled him through his legs. With the floodlights on but the light still good, the persevering Wright, still finding plenty of movement, picked up two deserved wickets, having both David Bedingham and Coughlin was caught behind. Nic Maddinson – penalised for an oversized bat against Derbyshire last week – is unbeaten on 37.

Renshaw's double and Neser's hundred put Queensland in command

Mitchell Swepson made inroads into NSW’s second innings to leave them struggling to save the game

AAP20-Oct-2022Matt Renshaw and Queensland allrounder Michael Neser posted their highest scores in first-class cricket in a match-turning sixth-wicket stand to crush New South Wales on day three of their Sheffield Shield clash.Opener Renshaw made a masterful unbeaten 200 and Neser a whirlwind 136 as the duo combined in a 257-run sixth-wicket stand at Sydney’s Drummoyne Oval. When Neser departed, Queensland declared on 6 for 477 and NSW were 4 for 96 at stumps when bad light stopped play.Neser and Renshaw came together in the first over of the day after Jimmy Peirson was dismissed. The Queensland pair blitzed the bowling attack to score at more than five runs per over in a powerful partnership.Neser’s previous best was an innings of 121 in the Shield two seasons ago.  The 32-year-old, who played one Test for Australia last season, brought up his ton with a cut shot to deep point from Australia spinner Nathan Lyon and then went into overdrive.Matt Renshaw brought up a marathon double century•Getty Images

Renshaw’s knock could have ramifications beyond this match.  Five of his 15 boundaries were sixes and he showcased an array of attacking strokes which sent a message to Test selectors that his game has developed hugely. His knock surpassed the 184 he made for Australia against Pakistan in 2017. The century was his first as an opening batter for Queensland since 2017-18 and continued the form he displayed for Somerset in English county cricket this year where he twice passed the hundred mark.Renshaw batted in the middle order last season but captain Usman Khawaja moved him back to his former position at the top of the list to benefit Queensland, and with the hope of revitalising his Test career.Renshaw played the last of his 11 Tests in 2018 but with current Australia openers Khawaja and David Warner nearing the end of their careers he has reminded the selectors of his ability to now change gears with a match-defining innings in challenging conditions.Queensland legspinner Mitchwell Swepson was the pick of the bowlers and also ran out opener Blake Nikitaris.

'Will I get my name up next to Warnie?' – Alana King on Old Trafford hat-trick

Rockets’ Australian legspinner pays tribute to inspiration provided by Shane Warne

Alana King paid a touching tribute to her hero Shane Warne after taking her first ever hat-trick, with the feat coming at Emirates Old Trafford, the ground where the late Australian icon made his name almost 30 years ago.Aussie legspinner King claimed a stunning treble as part of a haul of 4 for 15 as Trent Rockets beat Manchester Originals to make the perfect start to their women’s Hundred campaign, winning by 44 runs in defence of a 120 target. The 26-year-old Commonwealth Games gold medalist – who narrowly missed out on taking a hat-trick in the group stage against Barbados – bowled Cordelia Griffith, trapped Sophie Ecclestone lbw and bowled Kate Cross to etch her name into history with the first hat-trick in one-and-a-bit seasons of the women’s Hundred.Related

“Will I get my name up here at Old Trafford?” she asked. “That would be brilliant. Hopefully right next to Warnie. He took poles here for fun, and I’m sure he was looking down pretty happy.”King was of course referring to Warne’s ball of the century to Mike Gatting here in 1993.”He was a massive inspiration, but it wasn’t just me. It was kids all around the world who he inspired to pick up legspin. He was definitely the reason I picked up legspin. Hopefully he’s been proud watching down on me spin a few.”When I was a bit younger, I did a couple of sessions with him. All I remember from that was him saying, ‘Spin it hard and have some fun’. I live by that every single day.”That’s my first hat-trick. Not even in juniors did I take one. My first hat-trick at Old Trafford, I couldn’t have written it.”As soon as I got that first wicket, I knew I had to keep aiming for the stumps. I’m just stoked that I can play my part for this team. Kate Cross came up to me after the game and said, ‘I can’t believe I gave that wicket to you’.”Not only did King shine with the ball, she contributed two sixes in a crucial unbeaten 19 off nine deliveries at the end of the Rockets innings, boosting them to 119 for 5. She also took a smart low catch out at deep midwicket.King added: “The atmosphere was absolutely incredible. To get our first win was pretty special. We knew we were under par with the bat, and we needed to stick to our game plan with the ball. We wanted to take some early wickets in the powerplay, which we did. As soon as we got their two openers out, we knew the pressure was back on them.”Originals’ coach Paul Shaw said: “In the first half, I thought we bowled and fielded really well, and we were happy chasing 120. But then the second bit, we didn’t play like we wanted to play.”Alana King’s a quality performer who will be around for a long time. She bowled really, really well. But we didn’t play her that well.”

Liverpool have found their own Vinicius Jr. in Slot’s "superstar"

da betobet: Jurgen Klopp’s departure saw Liverpool’s rivals intent on grinding Arne Slot and his squad between the great millstones of the footballing universe.

da fazobetai: That simply hasn’t happened. Victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening saw the Dutch tactician claim his 12th win of the campaign, having played just 14 matches across all competitions.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot

It’s been quite something, and the Reds will travel to Southampton in the quarter-finals of the cup competition fuelled with confidence and deeper-spined belief that they can indeed compete for honours across every front this season.

The 3-2 scoreline somewhat flattered the Seagulls, who will be quaking at the daunting prospect of meeting the Merseysiders at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Alexis Mac Allister celebrates with Liverpool teammates

Liverpool boast one of the most awe-inspiring frontlines across the continent, with some of their forwards sure to make a positive impression in any of the finest outfits in world football.

It’s somewhat surprising that no one was honoured with a mention at the recently wrapped-up Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Liverpool snubbed at the Ballon d'Or

The biggest elephant in the room is that of Mohamed Salah, who did not even make the top 30 even though he’s widely regarded as one of the finest forwards in the world and posted 33 goals and 21 assists across all competitions since the start of last season.

As this content creator acknowledges, there has been some measure of outrage centred around Real Madrid galactico Vinicius Jr.’s failure to win the pinnacle of individual prizes, beaten by Manchester City’s Rodri despite popular opinion turned toward the Brazilian being the one to claim the golden ball.

Is this truly a travesty? Rodri is head and shoulders above every other midfielder across the world. He’s Pep Guardiola’s lifeblood, hailed as a “true legend of the game” by Joleon Lescott.

Liverpool’s failure to find any single player in the discussion was frankly embarrassing, and an illustration of the gaping holes that this prestigious award carries.

Four centre-backs claimed the award ahead of Van Dijk, while the aforementioned Salah will be shocked at some of the like-positioned names that claimed placements ahead of him.

But this is nothing compared to the noise surrounding Vinicius Jr., with all of a Real Madrid persuasion flat-out refusing to attend the ceremony, despite winning a wealth of accolades after a trophy-laden 2023/24 campaign.

In fairness, the 24-year-old was incredible last year, instrumental in winning the Champions League and La Liga, notching 50 goal contributions for Los Blancos since the start of last year.

He’s also remarkably dynamic, ranking among the top 4% of positional peers across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for shot-creating actions, the top 7% for passes attempted and the top 1% for progressive carries and successful take-ons per 90, as per FBref.

Oh for Liverpool to boast a player of such proportions. Actually, they do: Cody Gakpo has made significant headway under Slot’s leadership and offers a style not all that dissimilar to that of Vini.

Cody Gakpo's rise at Liverpool

Gakpo is approaching the two-year mark of his time at Liverpool, signing as he did from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth an initial £35m in January 2023.

Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo

It was a turbulent time, a time of patchiness and wobbles. Liverpool had been knocked heavily off-kilter and Gakpo struggled to drive into the way of life at Anfield.

Last season, his first full year on Merseyside, he started to kick on but has now begun to look like a truly dangerous forward under the management of his Dutch countryman, scoring twice against Brighton on Wednesday evening to take his haul to four goals and two assists from just six starting appearances.

Described as a “superstar” by The Athletic’s Carl Anka before tearing it up at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and indeed making the switch to Liverpool, Gakpo has gone from strength to strength this season, looking like a different beast in Slot’s system.

This is principally down to having nailed down a recognised position on the left flank, instead of the all-covering modus operandi that he employed under Klopp’s wing.

Now, he may be jockeying for ascendancy with the mercurial Luis Diaz down the left wing, but at least he’s got a clear understanding of the role that he is to play – and play that role he has.

Gakpo’s pace, power and deceptive trickery make him a singular outlet for Liverpool, with his stunning opening strike against the Seagulls evidence of the cannon he has in his toolkit.

Even so, he’s so much more. A protean threat, crackling with tactical dynamism, Gakpo ranks among the top 2% of positional peers across Europe’s top five leagues over the past year for shot-creating actions, the top 10% for pass completion and progressive carries, the top 5% for progressive passes and the top 1% for tackles and interceptions made per 90 (FBref).

And so you can see: Gakpo is a player borne with technical skill and sharp match intelligence that mirrors that of Vinicius Jr., with FBref classing the Brazilian among the players most similar to the Dutchman across Europe’s top five leagues – and moreover, he’s equally competent across a range of positional deployments.

Let’s hope that he can continue to go from strength to strength in this high-flying Slot system. Let’s not bet against it, in any case.

Gakpo is starting to show what he can do, and he can do so much. With such talented members across myriad positions, why shouldn’t Liverpool be reaching for the stars this term?

Glenn Maxwell added to Australia Test squad after Travis Head joins injury list

Australia need to rejig their middle order if Head isn’t available for the Galle Test

Glenn Maxwell has been added to Australia’s Test squad ahead of the opening match against Sri Lanka in Galle after Travis Head joined a lengthy injury list with a hamstring strain which has ruled him out of the final ODI.It means the prospect of Maxwell playing his first Test since 2017, against Bangladesh in Chattogram, and his first first-class match since 2019 if he is included for the game next Wednesday. All seven of his Tests have come on the subcontinent with a top score of 104 against India in Ranchi. Before the tour, national George Bailey kept the door open for Maxwell’s return. He has been in good touch during the ODIs with a match-winning unbeaten 80 in the opening game followed by 30 and 33.”We know Glenn has had some red-ball success in these types of conditions and we’re looking forward to him getting back and playing a good block of cricket through the T20s and one-day cricket,” Bailey said. “If he shoots the lights out or anyone else does particularly well, there’s always going to be opportunities.”Earlier in the trip, Maxwell said he understood why he was not part of the Test squad but had not given up hope of getting another chance”A guy that hasn’t played any first-class cricket would be a random pick,” he told . “I know it’s specific to my skillset and the way I play slow bowling, especially in these conditions, that might have been something to sway them.”But I think the way they’ve shown faith in their current squad is brilliant. It’s nice that the door’s not closed but I also thought it was nice that they showed faith in that squad.”Head sustained his injury late in the fourth match and has just six days to recover before the first Test in Galle. GPS data showed that Head had run 26km in the field across the third and fourth matches of the series. The strain is said to be on the minor side, but if he is not available for the opening game next Wednesday, it would require Australia to rejig their middle order.Related

Starc won't risk Test chances by making quick return in Sri Lanka

Warning signs for Australia ahead of litmus test against spin in Galle

Maxwell has been called up ahead of any of the Australia A batters who have been taking part in the four-day matches against Sri Lanka which includes Marcus Harris, Matt Renshaw and Nic Maddinson. However, three spinners from the A squad – Jon Holland, Matthew Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy – will remain in Sri Lanka with the Test squad to assist with preparations and to further their development. Kuhnemann has already been part of the ODI squad following Ashton Agar’s side injury and if Australia opt for three spinners during the Tests there could be further chance for promotion.Holland, 35, who has played four Tests, was a late addition to the Australia A squad after Kuhuemann was brought across to the one-day set-up.Travis Head has just six days to recover before the first Test in Galle•Getty Images

Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc also continues to be unavailable due to the stitching in his finger which he cut on the spike of his boot in the first T20I while Steven Smith, who has been nursing a quad strain, is unlikely to be risked ahead of the Tests.”[It’s a] bit more of a precaution,” Aaron Finch said of Head. “Especially, where he fields in the outfield, he does quite a lot of kilometres and the ground is quite heavy. Not sure what he’s looking like for the Test matches. Just one more to add to the list at the moment. Starcy is still not right with his finger. Where it is, the stitching is still not quite 100% healed. Without being able to bowl without tape on, he’ll be out as well.”Australia have endured a lengthy casualty list during the white-ball leg of the tour. Sean Abbott (broken finger) was ruled out before the matches began to be followed by Marsh who has since recovered from a calf strain, Kane Richardson (hamstring), Marcus Stoinis (side), and Agar (side) along with Starc and Smith.Reflecting on the ODI series, which Sri Lanka secured with their four-run victory two days ago, Finch picked out the fact Australia had not been able to build a big partnership to take them deep into the innings with plenty of wickets in hand as a deciding factor. They have fielded a long batting order in the last two matches with Cameron Green at No. 8.”Anytime we’ve started to get any momentum in the game, we lose a wicket and in these conditions, once you lose one, they go back-to-back pretty quick,” he said. “Think, just maximising that main partnership where you can get to the 40th over maybe three down, has hindered us a bit.”After Friday’s final ODI, Australia’s next 50-over cricket will be the series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand starting at home in late August. Unlike these matches against Sri Lanka, those contests will carry World Cup Super League points. There remains uncertainty whether their other home series, against South Africa in January, will go ahead after CSA requested for it to be moved, so they can launch their new T20 league.

Dean's hundred puts Victoria back on track after early problems

A fighting century from Travis Dean kept Victoria’s first innings intact in the crucial penultimate-round Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania in Melbourne.Victoria reached 4 for 210 at stumps, still trailing Tasmania by 145 runs at the midway point of the match.Dean notched up his eighth first-class century in the second last over of the day to be unbeaten on 103. He struck 13 boundaries in his 201-ball innings, but Tasmania wicketkeeper Jake Doran missed a catch on the shot which saw the opener bring up his ton.In concert with wicketkeeper Sam Harper, Dean helped the unbeaten home side revive from a parlous 4 for 110. There were, however, rare failures for Victoria’s leading run-getters, Peter Handscomb and Nic Maddinson.Maddinson made just 1 as debutant Ben Manenti) picked up the dangerman with a caught and bowled. Captain Handscomb looked confident during his 22 but was caught at first slip after driving at a delivery from former Victorian team-mate Peter Siddle.Earlier in the day, Tasmania’s tail proved there are few demons in the Junction Oval pitch by adding a quickfire 105 at nearly a run-a-ball in a wild 90-minute start to the day.Spinner Tom Andrews struck 39 from 44 balls, while Jackson Bird cracked 26 off just 18 deliveries, including two sixes in three balls off fellow quick James Pattinson. After resuming at 5 for 250, Tom Rogers was dismissed from just the third ball of the day meaning Tasmania had lost 3 for 5 following a mini-collapse late on day one.Offspinner Todd Murphy impressed in just his second first-class outing by returning figures of 4 for 98, while Jon Holland wrapped up the tail for 4-82

Former West Indies batter Easton McMorris dies aged 86

He played 13 Tests, scoring his only century during the home series against India in 1961-62

ESPNcricinfo staff02-Feb-2022Easton McMorris, the former Jamaica captain and West Indies batter, has died at the age of 86. A right-hand opening batter, McMorris played 13 Tests between 1958 and 1966, scoring 564 runs at an average of 26.85.McMorris scored 13 and 16 on debut against Pakistan in 1957-58, lining up alongside Everton Weekes, Garry Sobers and Conrad Hunte. In his next match, against England in Bridgetown, he was run out at the non-striker’s end without facing a ball. He had to withdraw from the next Test after picking up an injury, but returned for the third and scored 73 in front of his home supporters. After missing out on West Indies’ tour of Australia in 1960-61, McMorris was recalled for the home series against India in 1961-62, where he hit the only Test century of his career, at Sabina Park. He followed that up with back-to-back fifties at Port of Spain.McMorris toured England in 1963 and 1966 but averaged just 13.38 in his four Test appearances, struggling to come to terms with the slower, greener pitches. He, however, continued to score heavily for Jamaica in the Shell Shield, in latter years as their captain, and ended his first-class career with 5906 runs from 95 matches, including 18 centuries.”I had the privilege to engage with Mr McMorris on a few occasions over the years. I found him to be an encouraging and selfless gentleman,” CWI president Ricky Skerritt said. “Easton was a true stalwart of the game and contributed significantly at all levels, on and off the field.”He was a leader at the Lucas Cricket Club, carrying on the legacy established by the great George Headley. After retirement from playing, he gave yeoman service as a board member of the Jamaica Cricket Association and manager of the Jamaica cricket team.”

Clement shares fury at one thing away from any Rangers player’s performance

Glasgow Rangers manager Philippe Clement has admitted his frustration at one thing after his side's 3-0 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers beaten at Celtic in Old Firm derby

The Gers faced their most important game of the season so far on Sunday afternoon, as the Ibrox side made the short trip across Glasgow to take on their biggest rivals. After falling short to the Hoops in both the league and Scottish Cup last season, this was a chance for the Light Blues to make a statement, but they fell well short in that respect.

Instead, Rangers were soundly beaten at Parkhead, even though the visitors made a relatively positive start, and they found themselves 2-0 down at half-time with a mountain to climb.

Callum McGregor's long-range strike completely put the match to bed in the second half, compounding the misery for Clement's team, and the game ended up petering out on a bitterly disappointing afternoon for anyone of a Gers persuasion.

The defeat means that Rangers are now already five points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race after just four matches, and they cannot allow that gap to grow much more when the players return from the international break.

Clement fumes at particular aspect of Rangers defeat

Speaking after the game (via The Daily Mail), Clement admitted that the reaction to Rangers going behind was something that disappointed him hugely in the performance, saying:

"I was not happy with the reaction after the 1-0. It was not good enough. In the second half, there was a better reaction. But you have to become more open as a team, because you need to chase two goals and take more risks. So that also creates chances for them."

Rangers vs Celtic

The Belgian also added that the "defensive faults made" were also a big problem for his side, on a day that many supporters will want to forget about in a hurry.

This was an afternoon that felt humbling for Rangers, with the pre-match hope being that they would show how much they have grown as a team from last season, having brought in so many new faces.

Instead, they were comfortably outplayed by a better side, and it suggests that the Gers have a massive job on their hands in order to wrestle the Premiership crown away from their most bitter adversaries.

That being said, Clement did call for patience, stressing that the average age of his team was younger than Celtic's, and that the scoreline "could have been a 3-2 or a 3-1 or a 3-3", so it's important that there isn't an overreaction to the result.

Fewer touches than Butland: Rangers must drop a star who lost 9/9 duels

It was undoubtedly frustrating, with Rangers failing to find top gear, but the hope is that this outfit will only grow as the months pass and new signings get to know each other better, remaining in the hunt for title glory in the process.

India A face South Africa A in second four-day game amid threat of new Covid-19 variant

Cooped up in a bio-bubble while a new Covid-19 variant causes panic, the India A team will take on South Africa A in the second unofficial Test from Tuesday in Bloemfontein with some senior side aspirants hoping to make an impression. The first four-day game ended in a draw due to inclement weather on Friday last week even as the detection of the B.1.1.529 Covid-19 variant, which was named Omicron by the WHO, forced many countries to impose international travel restrictions on South Africa. The uncertain situation also led to the Netherlands abandoning their last two ODIs against South Africa which were scheduled in Johannesburg. However, India A have stayed put in Bloemfontein inside a bio-bubble. The matches are being played without spectators and the India senior team is also due to arrive in the country by December 9 for a nearly seven-week assignment starting December 17.If the situation deteriorates, it can jeopardise the tour which involves three Tests, three ODIs and four T20Is across four venues — Johannesburg, Centurion, Paarl, and Cape Town. However, the India A players will need to keep the thoughts of the new variant at bay and focus on the task at hand as they revive their battle with South Africa A here.In the first game, India A batters produced a good show with Abhimanyu Easwaran hitting a solid hundred and captain Priyank Panchal scoring 96 to take them to 308 for 4 in response to South Africa’s 509 for 7 declared when rain washed out the final day.Opener Prithvi Shaw also scored a fine 48 and he would look to make the most of the good batting conditions.Hanuma Vihari, who was not picked for the two home Tests against New Zealand, could manage just 25 at No. 4 and would be eager to make up for it in the second game. However, the visiting team’s bowling is an area of concern as it allowed the hosts to pile up a mountain of runs at the Mangaung Oval. While Navdeep Saini, who has lost his place in the Indian team, and his pace partner Arzan Nagwaswalla took two wickets each, Umran Malik, who was picked in the A squad after impressing with his extra pace in the IPL, also snapped one.Among the three spinners, Rahul Chahar, who was part of the recent home T20I series against New Zealand, conceded 125 runs for his one wicket, while K Gowtham and Baba Aparajith failed to cause any damage. For the hosts, Pieter Malan (163) and Tony de Zorzi (117) shone bright with respective tons, while three other batters – Jason Smith, Sinethemba Qeshile and George Linde – further piled on the agony on the Indian bowlers with half-centuries.In the bowling department, fast bowler Lutho Sipamla and left-arm spinner Linde scalped a couple of wickets each but the others were not very effective.India A: Priyank Panchal (capt), Prithvi Shaw, Hanuma Vihari, Arzan Nagwaswalla, Devdutt Padikkal, Sarfaraz Khan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Navdeep Saini, K Gowtham, Baba Aparajith, Rahul Chahar, Ishan Porel, Saurabh Kumar, Umran Malik, Upendra Yadav (wk).South Africa A: Peter Malan (capt), Dominic Hendricks, Raynard van Tonder, Jason Smith, Tony de Zorzi, Sarel Erwee, Senuran Muthusamy, George Linde, Marco Jansen, Migael Pretorius, Sinethemba Qeshile (wk), Beuran Hendricks, Lutho Sipamla, Glenton Stuurman.
