Sky Sports Share Tottenham Transfer Update

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has made an exciting Tottenham Hotspur transfer claim on how many incomings there could be before the deadline.

What’s the latest Spurs transfer news?

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou and chairman Daniel Levy have been busy so far this summer with eight new players signed so far.

James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven, Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario, Alejo Veliz, Ashley Phillips and Manor Solomon have all made permanent moves to north London at a combined cost of £165m.

The club have managed to bring in around £94m in player sales, with Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich one of the biggest moves of the summer, with Harry Winks also leaving on a permanent basis.

As a result, Spurs appear to be after a new forward of their own, with the likes of Gent’s Gift Orban, Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson and Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun all linked as potential targets.

However, alongside a new attacker, it appears as if Spurs are also interested in strengthening another area of the pitch.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Bridge was asked if he feels Spurs could be active in the final week of the window. The reporter believes the club could still make two more signings, one in attack and one in defence, admitting he knows they are two areas the club want to add to in an exciting transfer claim.

“Yeah, I think Spurs could have a busy final week. I still think maybe two – I think three is probably pushing it.

“I know they would still like another defender and a forward, whether that’s a winger/forward, like I’ve said throughout the months, you don’t replace Harry Kane like for like and I don’t think Ange Postecoglou has any intention of replacing Harry Kane like for like as you simply can’t.

“So we’ll see what the forward options will be, but as I say for now, outgoings are very important.”

Who could Tottenham sign?

As mentioned, Orban, Johnson and Balogun are just some of the attackers to be linked with a move to Tottenham, with Postecoglou only having Richarlison when it comes to senior centre-forwards.

However, plenty of other names have also been mooted in the final days of the window. Recent reports have claimed that Lille star Jonathan David is of interest, as is Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Meanwhile, at the back, a move to re-sign defender Clement Lenglet appears to be a possibility, with Fabrizio Romano saying that a deal is one to watch.

“Clement Lenglet could return to Tottenham.

“At the moment it’s not concrete or advanced, but in the final days of the window, in case Barcelona can’t find another solution for Lenglet, it could be one to watch.”

Therefore, should Spurs add to both areas, the club would have ended up bringing in 10 players over the course of the window, and with Postecoglou getting off to a solid start on the pitch in charge in north London against Brentford and Manchester United, it feels like the start of a new beginning.

Liverpool Eye Move For "Complete" £70m Henderson Heir

Liverpool recently completed the surprise signing of Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo for a fee of £16.2m from Stuttgart as Jurgen Klopp continued his midfield rebuild.

Having missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both joined Chelsea, the German will need to move swiftly to land another one or two players before the end of the transfer window.

Endo may not be a marquee name, yet his experience could be vital – and Klopp also appears to be edging closer to signing another target…

Who could Liverpool sign next?

With Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all departing Anfield, the Reds find themselves a bit short in the middle of the pitch.

According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure is still on Klopp’s list despite the arrival of Endo earlier this week.

The Eagles are set to ask for a fee believed to be around £70m for one of their prized assets, and should Liverpool submit an offer in this region, it’s highly likely they will secure his signature.

The £60k-per-week Palace gem has just one season of Premier League football behind him, yet Klopp clearly sees enough to launch a move to lure him to the north-west.

How good is Cheick Doucoure?

Although a mass midfield exodus was perhaps expected with a few players out of contract, to see Henderson depart after 12 years with the club was a major surprise.

The Englishman played a key role during their success between 2018 and 2022, captaining the side to a Premier League title, Champions League crown and a handful of other trophies as the Reds emerged out of the shadows that had plagued them for years.

Cheick Doucoure

The 33-year-old made nearly 500 appearances for the Anfield outfit, and although he started just 23 league matches last season, Klopp could still have counted on his experience for the 2023/24 campaign.

A move for Doucoure could certainly alleviate the blow of losing the 77-cap England international, especially with his wonderful debut season in England.

The 23-year-old even won the Player of the Year Award for his 2022/23 performances and there is no doubt he could be an ideal heir to Henderson.

The Mali international not only made more tackles per game than Henderson (2.3 v 0.9) last term, but also made more interceptions (1.6 v 0.6) and won possession more often (0.7 v 0.4) per game than the former Liverpool star in the league.

This suggests he could be much better at winning the ball back in the heart of the midfield, while his defensive abilities would allow others to thrive in a more advanced role.

Indeed, he ranked in the top 6% when compared to positional peers across Europe’s big five leagues for interceptions per 90 (1.73), while he even showcased his ability to take on defenders by ranking in the top 5% for his take-ons per 90 success rate (71.4%, as per FBref).

Lauded by former boss Patrick Vieira for being “the complete holding midfielder”, it’s evident that Doucoure belongs at a more esteemed club, and Klopp should be tying up a deal as quickly as possible.

Liverpool Complete Background Checks On £51m Midfield "Boss"

Liverpool have completed background checks on Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure, and a reliable journalist has revealed the chances of him moving to Anfield.

Is Cheick Doucoure leaving Crystal Palace?

The Mali international only arrived in the Premier League from Lens last summer and quickly became a regular feature of Roy Hodgson’s side during his debut season, making 34 starts from 38 matches in the top-flight.

Despite still having another four years remaining on his contract, the midfielder firmly established himself as the Eagles’ top-performing defensive player during the previous campaign and has therefore emerged as a summer target for FSG and Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds have reportedly identified the 23-year-old as a potential candidate to replace Fabinho who left the club last month to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, but he’s not the only player to have been considered by the hierarchy at Anfield.

The Merseyside outfit had been heavily linked with moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, but with those two having both joined Chelsea, not to mention that a deal for Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch is yet to come to fruition, the boss has been assessing alternatives in the form of the talisman at Selhurst Park.

Are Liverpool signing Cheick Doucoure?

Taking to X, RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins claimed that Liverpool have gathered information on the conditions of a deal for Doucoure, but says that they are yet to table an opening bid due to the price tag set by Crystal Palace. He wrote:

“Liverpool surveyed Cheick Doucoure. There has been no significant progress in recent days and no concrete offer from the Reds for the 23-year-old Malian midfielder. Crystal Palace values the player at more than 60 million euros (£51m).”

How good is Cheick Doucoure?

According to football talent scout Jacek Kulig, Doucoure is a defensive midfield “boss” when sitting just in front of the backline, and considering the protection he provides, he could be a fantastic addition should he eventually put pen to paper at Liverpool before September 1st.

The Bamako native ranked in the 94th percentile for interceptions and made a total of 77 tackles over the course of last season which was more than any other of his fellow teammates, via FBRef, highlighting his desire to get stuck into challenges and win back possession for his team.

The Blackskill client, who has also registered three assists during his time at Palace, even has the ability to operate at centre-back and slightly higher up in central midfield alongside his usual role, so he could provide the boss with some welcome versatility should any unexpected injuries occur in other roles that need covering.

The Reds may feel that £51m for Doucoure is too much to pay considering that he only has one season under his belt at the required level, but the fact that he can play in the heart of the defence and the centre which are the two positions that need addressing the most, he could prove to be a more useful acquisition than first imagined.

The ICC cleared him to bowl again in January 2018 but four matches into resuming his international career, he has been pulled up again. The umpires raised doubt over Vitori’s action during Zimbabwe’s game against Nepal in the World Cup Qualifier on Sunday. He was then filmed during the next game – a nail-biter against Afghanistan – on Tuesday, after which two members from the ICC’s panel of human movement specialists (Helen Bayne and Mark King) reviewed the footage and the penalty was subsequently handed out.Vitori had played a defining role in that game, taking 2 for 32 in 9.3 overs, including taking the final wicket in the 50th over to seal a two-run victory. He will no longer be available to bowl for Zimbabwe until he volunteers himself for biomechanical testing again, and as a result he has been replaced in the Zimbabwe squad by left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava.

Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United Set To Sign 6ft 5 Player

Manchester United are set to sign a new goalkeeper before the deadline with the player already in the city, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Are Man United signing a goalkeeper?

Erik ten Hag and those at Old Trafford have been relatively busy so far this summer with four new arrivals, but it looks as if a few more could be on their way before tomorrow evening’s deadline.

As highlighted below, the Red Devils have already landed a new goalkeeper in Andre Onana wile also bringing in a new midfielder, forward and another centre-back in former player Jonny Evans.

However, despite already bringing in Onana, Manchester United appear to be after another shot-stopper, with Altay Bayindir heavily linked with joining the Cameroon international in the Premier League.

Reports last week claimed that a deal was close for the Fenerbahce 'keeper following rumours of an exit for Dean Henderson, and Romano claimed on Tuesday that a move was back ‘on track’ and at the final details stage.

He has now shared a further update, taking to X on Wednesday to say that Henderson’s move to Crystal Palace was expected to be announced and that Bayindir will move to Old Trafford as his replacement. Romano said:

“Crystal Palace are expected to unveil Dean Henderson as new signing today after medical completed. Manchester United to receive £15m plus £5m add-ons. Altay Bayindir, in Manchester set to sign and become his replacement.”

Meanwhile, former United midfielder Fred who has signed for Fenerbahce this summer also appeared to confirm a deal, saying:

"I wished Altay good luck when he left. He’s going to a great team. I gave him some suggestions about places where he could live and I told him it rains a lot!

"I think Altay is going to be very happy at Manchester United."

Who is Altay Bayindir?

Bayindir is 25 years of age and has spent the entirety of his career in his native country of Turkey. The 6ft 5 shot-stopper gained his first taste of senior football with Ankaragucu and made 31 appearances for the club before joining Fenerbahce in 2019.

Since then, Bayindir has gone on to make 145 appearances for his current employers – 40 of which came as captain last season. The five-cap Turkey international has kept 44 clean sheets for Fenerbahce and holds a Transfermarkt valuation of €11m.

The goalkeeper may not be the only late addition, though, with United seemingly working on a deal to bring midfielder Sofyan Amrabat to Old Trafford. Reports in the last 24 hours have claimed that the Red Devils are in talks with Fiorentina over a loan deal, so after securing the services of Bayindir, you'd expect their whole attention could be on the Morocco international.

Renshaw steers Queensland to eighth Shield title

ScorecardQueensland joyfully accepted a desperate declaration and charged to their first Sheffield Shield title in six years during a rain-interrupted conclusion at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Tuesday.Tasmania gambled after a lengthy delay in the hope of a last-minute heist, but Queensland moved swiftly through the South Africa-bound Matt Renshaw to secure the nine-wicket win.Renshaw learned of his national call-up during the day, and he celebrated it with an unbeaten second-innings 81. While he waits to learn whether he replaces Cameron Bancroft or David Warner in the fourth Test, he warmed up with a muscular display of 12 fours and two sixes, including crashing a cut to the boundary for the winning runs.Queensland are full of potential and this was the right result perhaps, but neither side was able to show their full wares in a truncated game. Tasmania returned on the final morning at 0 for 10, with Alex Doolan and Jordan Silk trying to transform the game into a T20 contest and an unlikely victory push.As the batsmen opened their shoulders, Queensland spread the field. At one point during the 160-run stand, everyone but the bowler and wicketkeeper was on the boundary. Silk cleared the ropes twice in his 74 and Doolan was even more destructive in his unbeaten 82 off 74 deliveries, striking four sixes before bad light and heavy rain arrived at the stroke of lunch. That meant the outfield was unsuitable for play during the four-hour delay. This forced Tasmania into declaring at 1 for 166, setting Queensland 128 in at least 32 overs, but the locals would not be stopped. Joe Burns kept Renshaw company with 41 on the way to the state’s eighth Shield trophy.Queensland’s golden age began under Stuart Law’s captaincy in the 1990s and included players of the stature of Allan Border, Matthew Hayden, Carl Rackemann, Andy Bichel, Michael Kasprowicz and Andrew Symonds. The current squad is filled with young faces and even the committed cricket fan might struggle to recognise anyone other than Burns or Renshaw when they are wearing whites.Captained by Jimmy Peirson, the side has the 33-year-old paceman Luke Feldman as its elder statesman, but is mostly a band of up-and-comers alongside the journeyman from England, Charlie Hemphrey. Until Tuesday, Burns was the only player in the side to have lifted the Shield, when Queensland beat Tasmania at the Gabba in 2011-12.Queensland finished the group rounds comfortably on top, winning a game more than any other opponent, and its players were able to stare down Tasmania’s regularly-interrupted challenge throughout this contest. After the first-day abandonment, Tasmania posted a healthy 477, but Queensland went further in their response, with everyone contributing at least double figures. The coach Wade Seccombe, who was the wicketkeeper in the state’s first Shield victory in 1994-95, now has the opportunity to build the outfit into a unit craving long-term success.

Rangers: Update on Kevin Muscat replacing Michael Beale

Glasgow Rangers have been linked with a managerial move for Yokohama F. Marinos' Kevin Muscat, and a reliable journalist has since revealed the chances of him moving to the Scottish Premiership.

What is Kevin Muscat's CV like?

A former professional defender, Muscat began his coaching career as assistant at Melbourne Victory before being handed the main job himself, then he later went on to become technical director and boss at Sint-Truiden, though left that role following his appointment at Yokohama in July 2021, as per Transfermarkt.

However, the 50-year-old’s contract is set to expire in January 2024 and he is yet to put pen to paper on fresh terms, meaning that as it stands, he’s set to leave unless given the opportunity to extend his stay, and this seems to have alerted chiefs at Ibrox according to some reports.

The Light Blues had allegedly been in contact with their target’s camp to discuss the possibility of him taking over from Michael Beale should the hierarchy decide to part ways with their current coach, with the Aussie Scout claiming:

"Understand that Yokohama FM manager and ex-Socceroo Kevin Muscat is considered by Rangers as a candidate to replace Michael Beale were Beale to leave the club. Contact is believed to have been made with associates of Muscat. Muscat won the J-League with Yokohama FM last season."

Are Rangers appointing Kevin Muscat?

Taking to X, however, The Daily Record's Andy Newport was quick to shut down claims that Rangers were considering a swoop for Muscat with his own updatem confirming that the rumours that have emerged are seemingly fake… at least for now.

"Sources at Rangers say no truth in this whatsoever."

Glasgow Rangers manager Michael Beale.

Rangers dismissing the noise that they are thinking about getting rid of Beale clearly shows that they still have faith in him, but should they for any reason have a change of heart regarding his position in the near future, Muscat could be a perfect candidate to succeed him in the dugout north of the border.

At Yokohama, the manager has taken charge of 98 games, and from that, has recorded 57 victories, 17 draws and 24 defeats, meaning that he’s taken 188 points from a possible 294 whilst averaging 1.92 points per match in a more balanced league than the Premiership, via Transfermarkt.

The Crawley-born talent, whose preferred formation is a 4-3-3 defensive set-up, also has the silverware as proof of his success having secured three trophies since the start of his coaching career, the first being the Australian Champion at Melbourne and more recently being crowned Japanese Champion and Japanese Super Cup winner at the Nissan Stadium.

Therefore, Muscat knowing what it takes to compete and be successful, not to mention that he spent a year at the club during his playing days from 2002-2003, so he's no stranger to what is required to achieve in Glasgow, and with the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation, this could be one to keep a close eye on if a change at the helm were to happen.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While MLS has not yet announced specific roster rules and regulations for the 2024 season, it is known that in 2023, the salary budget for the senior roster was a base of $5.21 million (£4m). Designated players (DPs) impact the salary cap differently, with a fixed maximum budget charge. Allocation money, including General Allocation Money (GAM) and Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), plays a crucial role in managing player contracts and salary expenditures.

The exact amount of allocation money required by Inter Miami remains undisclosed, and it is uncertain how much the club has left from previous years or borrowed from the future.

A senior-ranked official told The Athletic: "They are screwed. Trust me.”

As the season opener approaches against Real Salt Lake on February 21, Inter Miami's management faces a race against time to navigate the complexities of MLS roster regulations and ensure the team's compliance for a successful campaign. Needless to say, the club's strategic decisions in the coming days will have significant implications for the new season.
